Teach Your Players to Pay Attention Without Having to Say It: Coaching Techniques to Build Awareness, Focus, and Presence.
A Talk by Brian Hamm (Head Coach, Eastern Connecticut State University)
About this Talk
Go beyond conventional practice drills to integrate your players' approaches on and off the field to teach them how to focus under pressure, how to limit distractions, and minimize the impact of anxiety and nerves. You can practice these techniques on the phone and on Zoom calls during the COVID crisis to support your players now and integrate into new drills/approaches we return to the field. These techniques will help you be a more present and engaged coach and help your players perform consistently with more energy and passion. It will help them understand that performing under pressure isn't about "flipping a switch" but instead about practicing being PRESENT in class, at practice, on the bench, and ultimately in the game!
